My wife Kate and I have been watching this blue jay, that we have nick-named "Bill", for at least 11 years.
He has a deformed bottom mandible.  This doesn't seem to slow him down a bit as he
has offspring every spring and seems to the dominate male in the neighborhood –
Gunbarrel Estates in Longmont, CO.  He eats a bit different by turning his head upside down
to scoop the food in.  Last year (2010) we noticed one of several fledgling blue jays
that came to our deck with "Bill" had the identical bill deformity.
